The Altschuler campaign reports that businessman Randy Altschuler, GOP and Conservative candidate for New York’s 1st congressional district, was 1 of only 12 Republican candidates in the entire country to achieve full-fledged “Young Gun” status from the National Republican Congressional Committee. Altschuler, who lost to the incumbent, Democratic Congressman Tim Bishop in 2010 by less than 100 votes, was advanced by the National GOP Committee the ‘Young Gun’ status in 2010 as well. (See here.) According to the NRCC website, 62 out of 92 Young Guns won in 2010.
The Young Guns Program was created by Reps. Eric Cantor (R-VA), Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) in the 2007-2008 cycle as a Member driven organization of House Republicans dedicated to electing open seat and challenger candidates nationwide. In the 2009-2010 cycle, the NRCC adopted the Young Guns program under the leadership of Chairman Pete Sessions (R-TX).
Young Guns served as the model for both Member participation and support for Republican candidates, as well as a training program designed to assist candidates in developing aggressive campaigns. By Election Day, Young Gun Members raised $10.6 million for Young Gun candidates nationwide.

Randy Altschuler Achieves ‘Young Gun’ Status
“Randy Altschuler has met a series of rigorous goals that will put him in position to win on Election Day,” said NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions (R-TX). “The momentum behind his campaign is proof-positive that New York families are fed up with President Obama and Tim Bishop’s policies that continue to spend too much, tax too much and borrow too much at the expense of hard-working families. Randy Altschuler is leading the pack as Republicans continue to send a loud and clear message that we will hold Democrats accountable for their unpopular partisan agenda.”
The ‘Young Guns’ program encourages candidates who have proven their ability to meet crucial campaign benchmarks to develop their campaigns further in order to achieve victory on Election Day. In achieving ‘Young Gun’ status, Randy Altschuler has met organizational and fundraising benchmarks and has established himself as a strong contender. Altschuler has reached the fourth and final step by establishing a clear path to victory through his ability to build a formidable campaign structure and achieve important goals and benchmarks.
The grandson of Polish immigrants, who was raised by a single mom, Randy Altschuler came from humble beginnings to achieve the American Dream.
