The video is of Long Island Republican, NYS Assemblyman Al Graf discussing the issue with Democratic Assemblyman Herman D. Farrell Jr. In the video, Assemblyman Graf states, “This was the governor’s backdoor Obamacare?”
George Demos, a conservative Republican candidate for U.S. Congress in New York’s first district, today released a video of a debate on the floor of the NYS Assembly that he says “demonstratively proves that Senator Lee Zeldin voted to waste $24.3 million of New York State funds on Obamacare.”
George Demos pounced. “It’s sad that Senator Lee Zeldin is now using three honorable Assemblymen to engage in his Obamacare cover-up. Michael Fitzpatrick, Al Graf, and Anthony Palumbo all had the courage to vote ‘NO’ to the bloated $138 billion New York State budget and its Obamacare funding. Lee Zeldin did not,” he commented in his latest press release. “Zeldin vehemently denies that the $24.3 million line item hidden on Page 391, Line 7, of the budget was for Obamacare. Lee Zeldin is lying to you. He voted to fund Obamacare. And now everyone knows it.”
Assemblyman Al Graf, however, quickly fired back, commenting on facebook, “”I am appalled by the fact that Senator Zeldin’s primary opponent is using my name to shamelessly distort the Senator’s record.
Senator Zeldin has never supported Obamacare. In 2012, with the help of Senator Lee Zeldin leading the charge in the State Senate, we were able to stop legislation that would have imposed Obamacare upon the backs of the people of the State of New York. Since that time, the Governor unilaterally imposed the health care exchange upon the people of this state by way of Executive Order. We have continued to be strong opponents of this failed program. I will continue to fight this battle in the halls of Albany and it is imperative that we have Senator Zeldin bringing this fight to the halls of Washington as our Congressman in the First Congressional District.”
