Two Men Die in Centereach Crash
Angelo Grimaldi, 43, and Kevin Demaille, 45, have been identified as the two men who died in a one-car crash in Centereach on Saturday night. Grimaldi, of 30 Emlu Drive, Selden, was the driver of the vehicle and Demaille, of 314 North Morning Drive, Centereach, was the passenger.

Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed two men in Centereach tonight.
A 43-year-old man was driving a 1970 Chevrolet on Bowdoin Road, when he apparently lost control and collided with a tree at 7:55 p.m. The driver and his 45-year-old passenger were transported to Stony Brook University Medical Center, where they died as a result of their injuries.
The investigation is continuing and the names of the victims are not currently being released pending notification to their families.
The vehicle is being impounded for a safety check.
Two-Year-Old Girl Dies After Choking on Electrical Cord
Location: 29 Croley St., Greenlawn
Date/Time: Saturday, July 9, 2011 at approximately 12:50 p.m.
Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the death of a two-year-old girl who died after choking on the electrical cord of an air conditioner today.
Second Precinct police officers responded to a 911 call reporting that a girl was choking on an electrical cord at 29 Croley St. in Greenlawn at approximately 12:50 p.m. today. Malana Ingram, 2, got entangled in the electrical cord of an air conditioner that was installed approximately six feet off of the ground and was later found by a family member.
Members of Ingram’s family and police performed CPR and the child was transported to Huntington Hospital by the Greenlawn Fire Department, where she was later pronounced dead.
The investigation is continuing.
Wyandanch Shooting Leaves Man and Woman Seriously Injured
Location: In front of 27 Venedia Dr., Wyandanch
Date/Time: Friday, July 8, 2011 at approximately 11:45 p.m.
Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a shotgun shooting into a vehicle that injured both a man and woman in Wyandanch last night.
Stanley Baldwin, 42, of Uniondale, and Danielle Tucker, 30, of Wyandanch, were sitting in a 1992 Honda Prelude in front of 27 Venedia Dr. in Wyandanch when their vehicle was approached by a black male wearing a hooded sweatshirt at approximately 11:45 p.m. last night. The male fired a shotgun into the vehicle three times at close range.
Baldwin, who was sitting in the driver’s seat, suffered a severe shotgun wound to his right leg. He was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he underwent emergency surgery.
Tucker, who was in the passenger seat, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center for treatment of a shotgun wound to her left thigh.
Both Baldwin and Tucker sustained upper body wounds from birdshot and broken glass.

Man Shot in the Back in Copiague
Location: 41st Street and Liberty Street, Copiague
Date/Time: Friday, July 8, 2011 at approximately 11:10 p.m.
Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a shooting that injured a man in Copiague last night.
Marvin Sosa was walking near the intersection of 41st Street and Liberty Street in Copiague when he was approached by two males at approximately 11:10 p.m. last evening. The first male pointed a silver handgun at Sosa and pulled the trigger but the gun did not fire. Sosa began to run away when he heard three gunshots, one of which struck him in the upper left part of his back. Sosa, 26, of Copiague, was discovered by police officers responding to a 911 call and transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was treated for a bullet lodged between two ribs.
Both suspects are described as black males, ages 22-23, approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall, and weighing 170 pounds. The suspect with the silver handgun was wearing a red long sleeve shirt and a baseball hat. The second suspect was wearing a black long sleeve shirt.

Bicyclist Killed in North Amityville Crash
Location: Westbound Sunrise Highway and Bayview Ave, North Amityville
Date/Time: Thursday, July 7, 2011 at approximately 7:40 p.m.
Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a bicyclist in North Amityville last night.
Michael Greco, 34, of 32 South Franklin Ave., Lynbrook, was driving a 1989 Mercedes westbound in the center lane of Sunrise Highway when his vehicle struck a man riding a bicycle northbound across Sunrise Highway on Bayview Avenue. Witnesses say Greco had a green light westbound on Sunrise Highway when he struck the bicyclist.
The bicyclist, Dorian Robinson, 51, of 9 South Prospect St., North Amityville, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was pronounced dead at 8:34 p.m.
Greco was treated and released from St. Joseph Hospital in Bethpage with minor injuries.
The Mercedes was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.

Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash
Location: Middle Country Road and Smithtown Polk Boulevard, Centereach
Date/Time: Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at approximately 1:35 p.m.
Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a crash that seriously injured a motorcyclist today.
Thomas Altruda, 67, was operating his 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound on Middle Country Road when he collided with a 2005 Suzuki Firenza at the intersection of Smithtown Polk Boulevard at approximately 1:35 p.m.
Altruda, of 146 Middle Island Blvd., Middle Island, and the driver of the Suzuki, Nicholas Sumrall, 22, of 98 Hawthorne St., Mastic, were transported to Stony Brook University Medical Center. Altruda was listed in serious condition and Sumrall was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check. The investigation is continuing.

Man Found Shot Dead in West Babylon
Teshon Garrett, 23, of 32 Scott Ave., Deer Park, has been identified as the man who was found dead on Fulton Street in West Babylon on July 5. Homicide Squad detectives are continuing their investigation.

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the death of a Deer Park man who was shot on Fulton Street last evening.
First Precinct police officers were called to 197 Fulton St. in West Babylon after a 911 caller reported gunshots at 9:34 p.m. on July 5. Officers discovered a 23-year-old male had been killed in the street in front of that location from apparent gunshot wounds. The identification of the man is being withheld pending notification of kin.
Police believe the suspect in the shooting fled on foot eastbound on Fulton Street towards Westchester Ave. The suspect is a black male, approximately 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, and he is believed to have been wearing blue jeans and a light-colored hooded sweatshirt.

Man Seriously Injured in One-Car Crash
Rafael Rajo, who was seriously injured in a one-car crash in Lindenhurst on July 4, has died of his injuries.

Date/Time: Monday, July 4, 2011 at 3:50 a.m.
Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a one-car crash that seriously injured a man in Lindenhurst early this morning.
Rafael Rajo was driving northbound on Wellwood Avenue when his vehicle left the road, struck a curb and utility pole and then overturned near the intersection of Maple Drive at 3:50 a.m. Rajo was ejected from the vehicle.
Rajo, 21, of 105 7th St., Lindenhurst, was transported to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow where he was admitted with severe head trauma.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information to call the First Squad at 631-854-8138.
